GSO Receives Comoros Foreign Affairs Delegation
The GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) received a high-level diplomatic delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Union of the Comoros, headed by His Excellency Ambassador Imam Abdullah, Secretary-General of the Ministry. The official visit, held on Thursday, 11 December 2025, aimed to enhance technical cooperation and exchange expertise in the fields of standardization and product quality.
The visit was part of a broader tour conducted by the delegation, which included meetings at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council and several regional Gulf organizations. This comes within the framework of the MoU signed between the GCC General Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Union of the Comoros in New York on 22 September 2025, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, GSO presented a brief overview of its key activities and initiatives, highlighting its role in supporting and developing the standardization system and quality infrastructure across member states. Discussions also touched on opportunities for joint cooperation, particularly in the areas of standards development, conformity assessment, information exchange, and capacity building.
This visit reaffirms the depth of cooperation between the Union of the Comoros and the GCC countries and aligns with GSO’s strategic direction to support and facilitate trade exchange through the harmonization of standards, conformity verification procedures, and the establishment of effective international partnerships that strengthen the standardization ecosystem at both regional and global levels.
