GSO Participates in ISO Annual Meeting 2026 in Paris

The GCC Standardization Organization (GSO), headed by H.E. Eng. Jabor Mohamed Al-Naimi, President of GSO, participated in the ISO Annual Meeting 2026, held in Paris, France, from 28 September to 2 October 2026, under the theme “Building Trust in a Changing World.” The event brought together representatives of national standardization bodies, regional and international organizations, and experts from around the world.

GSO’s participation included several meetings, sessions, and events addressing key issues and future trends in standardization, as well as the role of international standards in supporting trade, innovation, sustainable development, technological transformation, and market confidence. GSO also participated in the Regional Forum for Arab and African Countries, which focused on exchanging expertise and best practices and strengthening regional cooperation in standardization.

As part of the ISO Annual Meeting, GSO attended the 60th meeting of the ISO Committee on Developing Country Matters (DEVCO), which discussed the Action Plan for Developing Countries 2026–2030, including ways to enhance their participation in the development of international standards and strengthen capacity-building efforts.

GSO also participated in the 48th ISO General Assembly, which addressed strategic and financial developments, performance reports of ISO governance bodies, and several topics related to the future of international standardization.

On the sidelines of the Annual Meeting, GSO signed a (MoU) with the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) to strengthen cooperation in standardization and quality, contribute to eliminating technical barriers to trade, and facilitate trade exchange between GSO member states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

In recognition of the GCC’s active presence in the international standardization system, H.E. the President of GSO congratulated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by H.E. Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Kasabi, Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), on its election to the ISO Council for the 2027–2029 term, marking the Kingdom’s seventh election to the Council and its second consecutive term. This achievement further strengthens GCC representation and contributions to ISO governance bodies and the development of future directions for international standardization.

GSO’s participation reflects its commitment to strengthening the GCC’s presence in the international standardization system, enhancing coordination and cooperation among member states, ISO, and its members and partners, and promoting the exchange and adoption of international expertise and best practices. These efforts contribute to developing a more integrated GCC standardization system that keeps pace with international developments.
