GSO Signs an MoU with the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control of the Republic of Iraq
Under the patronage of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf, the Standardization Organization for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GSO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) of the Ministry of Planning of the Republic of Iraq.
The MoU was signed on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.
It is envisaged that the signing of the MoU will enhance the technical cooperation between the two parties in the areas of standards, technical regulations, conformity assessment, metrology (science of measurement), capacity building, awareness, information, technical support, and exchange of experiences and information, with the aim of facilitating trade exchange between the Republic of Iraq and member states of GSO.
Following the signing of the MoU, His Excellency the GCC Secretary-General stressed the importance of supporting and strengthening the areas of cooperation between the GCC countries and Iraq.
His Excellency valued the role of the COSQC of the Republic of Iraq in boosting standardization and quality control to unify the different standardization activities and follow up their implementation and compliance with a view to serving the common interests.
His Excellency the GCC Secretary-General witnessed the signing ceremony of the MoU between GSO and the COSQC of the Republic of Iraq. The MoU comprised many aspects of cooperation and enhancing the joint work between the two parties.
The MoU was signed by His Excellency Saud Bin Nasser Al-Khusaibi, President of GSO and Dr. Hussein Ali Daoud, President of the COSQC of the Republic of Iraq, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Abdul Sattar Al Janabi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
On the other hand, a bilateral meeting was held between GSO and the delegation of the COSQC of the Republic of Iraq at the headquarters of GSO in Riyadh, in the presence of His Excellency the Iraqi Ambassador in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to discuss the executive program for technical cooperation in line with the framework of the MoU signed between the two Parties.
