The Ministerial Committee for Standardization Holds Its 10th Meeting in Kuwait
 

The Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held its tenth meeting on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, in the State of Kuwait. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Industry of Kuwait, with the participation of Their Excellencies the ministers, and the heads and delegations of the national standardization bodies of the GSO Member States.

At the outset of the meeting, His Excellency Eng. Nawaf bin Ibrahim Al-Manaa, President of the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO), presented the progress report on the Organization’s activities for the period from April to September 2025. The report highlighted key achievements and projects implemented in the areas of standardization, conformity assessment, and metrology, as well as strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing Gulf economic integration and supporting the competitiveness of Gulf industries.

During the meeting, the Committee approved 14 new Gulf technical regulations, converted 25 technical regulations into Gulf standards, and withdrew 34 technical regulations, in line with international best practices and to keep pace with global developments and technological advancements in markets.

The Committee also approved the GSO’s budget for the fiscal year 2026, in addition to endorsing updates to the organizational structure and the GSO Strategic Plan 2026–2030.

These resolutions reflect the Committee’s continuous efforts to advance and strengthen the GCC standardization ecosystem, reinforce institutional integration, and support the implementation of GSO’s Vision 2030, which aims to enhance the efficiency of the legislative framework governing Gulf products and improve their competitiveness in regional and international markets.

The outcomes of the meeting further underscore the commitment of the Ministerial Committee and the GSO to progressing joint Gulf action in the fields of standardization, quality, and conformity assessment, and to elevating the GCC’s position in regional and international standardization forums. This is in alignment with the directives of Their Excellencies the ministers and with the GCC Vision 2030, which seeks to achieve sustainable industrial and commercial development and deepen economic integration among Member States.
