Eng. Jabor Mohamed Al-Naimi Assumes Office as President of GSO
Eng. Jabor Mohamed Al-Naimihas officially assumed his new role as President of the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO), pursuant to the decision issued by the Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), succeeding Mr. Nawaf bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi Al Manea, who served as President from April 2024 to May 2026.
The Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs, comprising Their Excellencies the Ministers of Commerce and Industry responsible for standardization affairs in the GCC Member States, approved during its 11th meeting held virtually on 30 April 2026 the nomination of the State of Qatar’s representative to assume the position of President of GSO effective from 3 May 2026.
H.E. Eng. Jabor Al-Naimiholds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the College of Engineering at Qatar University, obtained in 2002.
Throughout his professional career, H.E. held several key leadership positions, including Acting Head of the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology from October 2025 until April 2026. He also served as Director of the Standards and Metrology Department from 2018 to 2026, Head of the Engineering Standards Section from 2010 to 2018, Head of the Mechanical Standards Section from 2007 to 2010, and Head of the Technical Information and International Relations Unit from 2005 to 2007.
Eng. Jabor Al-Naimialso served as Chairman of the GCC General Standards Committee in 2024 and was a member of the committee for several years. In addition, he chaired the GCC Technical Committee for Food and Agricultural Standards, the committee responsible for developing the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology Strategy (2025–2030), and the Higher Committee for Granting the Qatari Quality Mark. He also chaired several national technical committees specializing in food, construction and building materials, and electrical and electronic sectors within the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology. Furthermore, he served as a member of the GCC Building Code Committee at the GCC General Secretariat and the Committee for Supporting the Competitiveness of National Products and Combating Harmful Practices in International Trade.
He also represented the State of Qatar in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML), and the Codex Alimentarius Commission, in addition to participating in GSO forums and regional and international meetings and exhibitions related to standardization. He further represented the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology in negotiations with regional and international organizations and countries.
H.E. Eng. Jabor Al-Naimi’s extensive experience in the field of standardization is expected to contribute to building upon GSO’s achievements, preserving its accomplishments, further developing its operational systems, and continuing to support the GCC joint action process. His expertise will also strengthen the quality and standardization infrastructure across Member States in line with the Organization’s strategic objectives and aspirations.
It is worth noting that the GCC Standardization Organization operates across various fields of standardization and aims to unify standardization activities and ensure their implementation in coordination with national standardization bodies in GCC Member States. This contributes to enhancing trade among Member States, protecting consumers, the environment, and public health, and promoting Gulf industries and products in support of the GCC economy.
