GSO Concludes a Successful Experience Exchange Visit to Brussels to Strengthen GCC-EU Cooperation in Standardization and Quality

The GCC Standardization Organization (GSO), accompanied by representatives from the member states’ Gulf Conformity Assessment Committees and the Gulf Steering Committee for Notification, successfully concluded an official visit to the Kingdom of Belgium. The visit, organized by GSO from 12 to 13 May 2025 in Brussels, aimed to exchange experiences with leading European institutions specializing in standardization and quality infrastructure.
The delegation engaged in a series of high-level technical meetings with several prominent European bodies, including the European Commission, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), the European Accreditation Agency (EA), and the European Laboratory Association (EUROLAB).
Key discussions focused on vital topics such as the preparation and implementation of standards, technical regulations, conformity assessment, notification and accreditation procedures, and the critical role of laboratories in supporting the European quality infrastructure. Both sides explored opportunities to strengthen joint technical cooperation, share expertise, and adopt best practices that would contribute to the advancement of quality infrastructure across the Gulf region.
Additionally, the GSO delegation and representatives of member states participated in the Annual TIC Summit 2025, one of the foremost international platforms in the fields of testing, inspection, and certification (TIC). This year’s summit addressed the future of quality infrastructure in the context of digital transformation and sustainability.
This visit marks a strategic step in promoting GCC-EU cooperation in the fields of standardization and quality, reinforcing the commitment to developing integrated technical and regulatory systems, and supporting enhanced trade exchange between GCC member states and the European Union.
