GSO Celebrates the World Metrology Day and Organizes the Second Symposium for Standardization Ambassadors
The GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) organized the second symposium for standardization ambassadors under the theme (The Role of Standardization in Consumer Safety) at its headquarters in the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh, on 20 May 2024.
The organization of the symposium coincided with GSO annual celebration of the World Metrology Day, which falls on 20 May of each year, and this year came under the theme “We measure today for a sustainable tomorrow.”
The symposium activities included a lecture entitled (The Role of Standardization in Consumer Safety) presented by Dr. Zaki Al-Rubaei, Head of Marketing and International Relations section, in addition to a lecture entitled (The Importance of Standards in Our Daily Lives) presented by Eng. Abdulelah AlQarnas, head of the Metrology section at GSO.
The symposium aimed at contributing to spreading the culture of standardization and increasing the awareness of its importance, in addition to contributing to building knowledge capabilities in various fields of standardization, as well as enhancing communication with standardization ambassadors in order to achieve the envisaged goals. On the sidelines of the symposium, a celebration was held to commemorate World Metrology Day 2024.
It is worthwhile mentioning that GSO launched the Standardization Ambassadors initiative, on March 2022, which is a voluntary initiative aimed at activating community participation in standardization activities, conveying the GSO message and spreading the culture of standardization, as well as contributing to disseminating the GSO awareness programs, in addition to building the knowledge capabilities of those targeted in the field of standardization.
