Notification Requirements in the fields of the Omani Product Safety/Product Efficiency Schemes
Summary (Objectives)
This program aims to enhance participants' understanding of the notification procedures in the fields of product safety and energy efficiency according to the Omani scheme, with a particular focus on the Omani Guide for the Designation of Conformity Assessment Bodies (DGSM-DG-1-22), the Conformity Assessment Procedures for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances - Home Appliances (DGSM-CAP-2-22), and the Guidance on Conformity Assessment Procedures (CAP) for Oman Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme (DGSM-CAP-3-23), for the following scopes:
- Safety Scopes
- Vacuum cleaners, washing machines, and dishwashers (according to Ministerial Decree No. 4 of 2017).
- Efficiency Scopes
- Air conditioners (according to Gulf Standard GSO 2530:2016), washing machines (according to Omani Standard OS1651:2022), water heaters (according to Omani Standard OS1652:2022), and refrigerators and freezers (according to Omani Standard OS1653:2022).
Participants will be able to understand the notification procedures in the Omani scopes and apply these procedures efficiently, enabling them to perform their role as conformity assessment bodies (notified bodies) in these fields and avoid cases of non-conformity.
Objectives:
- Enhance understanding of notification procedures in the fields of product safety and energy efficiency according to the Omani scheme.
- Provide participants with the necessary tools and skills to obtain notification in the Omani scopes and apply these procedures in accordance with the guides.
- Enable participants to perform their role as a conformity assessment body in the fields of product safety and energy efficiency, particularly with regard to household electrical appliances, and avoid cases of non-conformity, based on the requirements of the aforementioned guides.
