Course Objectives

The training objectives are:

·       Acquire capacity to apply ISO methodology for National Standardization Strategies (NSS), allowing the development of new ones and assessment or revision of existing ones.

·       Identify different options to follow-up the implementation of the NSS.

·       Design actions to take out the most from the NSS.

A successful workshop requires the active participation of the attendant, as it is full of group exercises.

Course Outlines

Module 0: Introduction and opening of the workshop

- Introduction of the participants and revision of the objectives.

- Importance and benefits of national standardization strategies

- Overview of the ISO Development Guide for NSS

Module 1. General Framework of the Strategy

- Overview of the ISO methodology for the development of National Standardization Strategies.

- Communicating the benefits of standardization.

- Identification of socio-economic priorities.

- Defining priorities.

- Reaching key stakeholders.

Module 2: Resources

- Adoption vs national development of standards

 - Human Resources

- Exercise on resources calculation.

Module 3: Taking out most of the strategy

- Approval, follow-up and revision. for strategy implementation

- Management plan, how to monitor the implementation of the NSS

Module 4: Wrap-up, final remarks and takeaways

Who should attend?

Technical staff from the standardization bodies, especially those in management positions and/or with responsibilities in the development and implementation of NSS.

Government Officials: Those responsible for standardization and quality assurance.

Other professionals with responsibilities related to standardization in their own fields, such as industry professionals, quality managers, trade associations, consultants, professors, and researchers for which standardization is a research or training topic.
