European Standard EN 71 for Toys’ Safety Requirements
course objectives:
- Enhance the technical expertise of specialists in the preparation of standards for toys.
- To keep the experts in the GCC countries informed about the updated requirements of European standards for toys.
- To harmonize the current Gulf standards with updated European standards for toys.
- To Enhance full understanding of the requirements of the European standards, which will contribute to the optimal application of these standards by toys manufacturers and - --laboratories to ensure the safety of toys that are traded in the national and Gulf markets
course outlines:
The program will highlight the requirements of the updated European standards EN 71, such as:
- Test methods for flammability
- Identify classifications of flammable substances prohibited in toys
- Categories of flammable toys
- Determine the values and ratios of heavy metals in toys
- Requirements and methods for testing hazardous chemicals used in toys
- Requirements for organic compounds in toys
- Methods of analysis of organic compounds

- Members from GSO TC14 Technical Committee for Safety of toys, and members from the corresponding national technical committees of GCC member states
- Specialists in the preparation and implementation of standards for toys
- Specialists in toys laboratories
- Stakeholder's such as manufacturers, importers, and distributors for children's toys

Antony has been a member of the toys Technical Committees in ISO, IEC, CEN and CENELEC for several years.</span></span></p> <p style="margin: 0px; text-align: left;"><span style="margin: 0px;" lang="EN-GB"><span style="color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;">Antony was most recently the QA Director EMEAR for Hasbro, based in the UK. He now works as a private consultant to the consumer goods industries.
