Workshop Objectives

This workshop will spotlight on the positive and negative impacts on industry, trade and consumers in case that the production date of perishable food products is kept or canceled. This workshop will discuss this issue taking into account all point of views of previous mentioned parties and of course the intra-member trade and member countries and international markets. All NSBs and regulators in GSO member states are invited to this workshop in addition to interested academic, research, trade, industry entities. The final aim is to have recommendations based on technical and scientific proofs that meet industrial and commercial requirements and with no affect or conflict with the health and safety of the consumer.

·         Facilitation of the inter-movement of commodities and food products among Member States.

·         Maximizing use of food shelf life.

·         Reduction of waste of food goods and products.

·         Maintaining the economic value of food products

·         Creating marketing channels and alternative outlets for food products.
