OBJECTIVE:

General force metrology course covers all topics about force measurement standards, force standard machines, force measuring methods, force measuring devices and calibration of force transducers and dynamometers. In order to teach detailed knowledge about force unit, calibration of force measuring devices, evaluation of calibration results, measurement uncertainty of force measuring devices and etc. will be given under the scope of this training course.

TRAINING METHOD:

This training is including in two sections. First is theoretical information about force metrology and second is practical application of force measuring device calibration. Practical application is given as measuring the force transducer in the force standard machine at NMCC/ SASO Force Measurement Laboratory.

DURATION:

Duration of this training is three days including a day for theoretical information and a day for practical application about force metrology and calibration

 Course CONTENT:

  • Short history of force measurements and metrology
  • Force unit in SI unit system
  • Realization of force unit
  • Force standard machines (dead weight type, lever-hydraulic amplification type, built-up-reference transducer type and etc.)
  • Force measuring devices (force transducers, load cells, proving rings, dynamometers)
  • Calibration method of force measuring devices
  • Calibration procedure of force measuring devices
  • Evaluation of calibration results
  • Classification of force measuring devices
  • Calculation of measurement uncertainty of force measuring devices
